and visit the National Portrait Gallery. Before you can work with the portraits in the gallery, you need to answer some simple questions about portraits in general and the ones you’ll be seeing in particular. You’ll examine four
portraits by learning about the symbols used in each one that portray the
artist’s intent in showing you about each person. You’ll also find out how each
artist uses color in the portraits to express ideas. Finally, print out the
line drawings of each portrait so you can color it in yourself.
