If Someone at School has a Weapon
This is a mandatory discussion that must be had at home. The article is written for middle and high school students, but could be adapted for conversation with younger students. Rational, methodical steps are suggested for dealing with a situation that might involve a weapon. Then practical advice is offered to the student who observes or hears about the possibility of a weapon at school. The article also addresses warning signs of violence that may or may not involve a weapon and why these concerns should be taken seriously.
