What better way to get exercise than to grab two jump ropes with friends and begin double Dutch style? At PBS Kids, Dragonfly explores what you need to know about jumping Double Dutch. There you can read a brief history of Double Dutch and find out about the special moves used in competition. The three teenagers who speak in the video explain their thoughts as to why it is more important in jump rope performance—seeing the ropes or hearing the beat. They do a great job providing evidence and coming up with the importance of good healthy exercise. In addition to the experimentation with Double Dutch, there are suggestions for other investigations of the rope itself, and exploring a different kind of jump, the broad jump.
