International Children's Digital Library makes children's classics accessible in many different languages. If you are looking for a way to introduce global themes, the this site is your answer! This example features the story of Little Red Riding Hood in English but can be translated into Italian, Spanish, Farsi, and Persian. Once you've flipped through Little Red Riding Hood try out some of the other classics to inspire your students!

In order to gain fluency writers must utilize transitional words. Transitional words build a bridge from sentence to sentence or paragraph to paragraph.
Read through six different sentences to gain a better understanding of how transitions work. You can choose the best transition that connects the ideas placing it in the correct place in the given sentence. After practicing here, you'll be ready to try them on your own. ![]()
There is the notion that big farming states in the Midwest were harmed most during the Great Depression by the drought that created the Dust Bowl. That may have a had a big impact on farmers and their economic health, but the banking crisis that affected the rest of the country caused many hardships in states in the Midwest. The bank failures of the 1930s are described here. You'll also find personal interviews with people who experienced the Great Depression.
